 WHO IS RAQUEL UNDERWOOD?

Hello! I'm a Santa Fe, New Mexico artist working primarily in oils. For the past ten years or so my paintings have focused New Mexico churches,  interesting Southwest architectural features, and unusual high-desert plant life. The outdoor plant life works have lead me to my current series and original interest and passion: indoor still-lifes–be they traditional florals and fruit, or more quirky subjects.

I grew up primarily in Oregon and Texas, but a large portion of my youth was spent in Italy. As a teen, I lived for several years in North Africa and France.

Travel has always been a passion, but living in Northern New Mexico has awakened in me the fascination with light and shadows, color and form. I hope this passion shows in the many subjects I paint.

Although I studied Philosophy and French in college, I continued on to MFA studies at Pratt Institute, classes at at The Art Students League in NYC, and a variety of master level classes and workshops here in Santa Fe.

I'm thrilled clients new and old now have the opportunity to easily view my work here and purchase through The Art Club Gallery.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST!
